UIN Sunan Kalijaga and PPPFI Empower Kapuas Madrasah Teachers to Adapt to AI through National Collaborative Community Service

Kapuas, August 10, 2026 — The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is creating new opportunities for teachers to deliver more creative and diverse learning experiences. This was the focus of a National Community Service Program (PKM) organized by UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta in collaboration with the Indonesian Association of Physics Education Study Programs (PPPFI) for madrasah teachers in Kapuas Regency, Central Kalimantan.

Carrying the theme “Strengthening Madrasah Teachers’ Competence through the Integration of a Love-Based Curriculum and Artificial Intelligence,” the program was held on Monday, August 10, 2026, at the MAN Kapuas Hall and was attended by 40 teachers from MI, MTs, and MAN levels.

One of the sessions, titled “Utilizing AI in Madrasah Learning,” was delivered by Iva Nandya Atika, S.Pd., M.Ed. The session focused on the creative use of AI to support teachers in addressing diverse learning needs while developing differentiated content based on students’ characteristics and learning needs.

Beyond receiving theoretical insights, participants also engaged in hands-on activities using AI tools such as ChatGPT and Gemini. The teachers developed various learning materials, including infographics and animated videos, covering topics such as the water cycle and butterfly metamorphosis, adapted to the subjects they teach.

The hands-on activities provided teachers with practical experience in using AI as a supporting tool for developing learning media that are more visual, engaging, and contextual. The use of technology was also directed toward supporting learning approaches that accommodate the diverse needs of students.

At the same time, the use of AI in education needs to be approached wisely, critically, and responsibly. Teachers remain central to determining learning objectives, selecting and verifying information, and ensuring that AI-generated content is appropriate to students’ characteristics, the learning context, and educational values.

Through this National Community Service Program, UIN Sunan Kalijaga and PPPFI seek to strengthen the capacity of madrasah teachers to respond to developments in educational technology. The integration of AI with a love-based curriculum is expected to support learning that is creative, adaptive, human-centered, and student-centered.
