Teaching Heat Transfer through Cartoons: UIN Sunan Kalijaga Lecturer Receives an Enthusiastic Welcome from Abi-Ummi Boyolali Students

Boyolali, Wednesday, November 19, 2025. The Physics Education Study Program of UIN Sunan Kalijaga conducted a community service activity at SMPTQ and SMATQ Abi-Ummi Boyolali. On this occasion, Norma Sidik Risdianto, S.Pd., M.Sc., Ph.D., a lecturer in Physics Education at UIN Sunan Kalijaga, delivered a learning session for seventh-grade female students using cartoons as a learning approach to explain the concept of heat transfer.

During the session, Norma explained the principles of heat transfer—radiation, convection, and conduction—by utilizing cartoon illustrations. The use of cartoons made the learning process highly engaging, and the students became so enthusiastic that the lecturer was almost overwhelmed by the number of questions raised by the participants.

Nearly all students actively participated by asking questions, providing answers, and engaging fully in the interactive discussion. Their questions reflected strong curiosity, intelligence, and a deep understanding of the material presented.

This activity represents a concrete commitment from UIN Sunan Kalijaga to enhance science literacy and support the quality of education in schools. The school expressed great appreciation for the program and hopes that similar collaborations can continue in the coming years.
