The Physics Education Study Program, Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training (FITK), UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, once again actively participated in the implementation of the 120th Community Service Program (KKN) in 2026 by assigning several lecturers as Field Supervisors. One of the Physics Education lecturers, Himawan Putranta, M.Pd., attended the ceremonial send-off held at the UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta campus and participated in the send-off and welcoming ceremony for students assigned outside the Special Region of Yogyakarta in Kejajar District, Wonosobo Regency, Central Java.

The university-level send-off ceremony for the 120th Community Service Program was conducted with a strong spirit of community engagement. A total of 3,725 students were officially deployed to carry out community service activities for 45 days under the theme “Utilizing Knowledge and Community Service Innovation for Sustainable Development.” This year’s program covers various regions across Indonesia and extends to Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, and South Korea as part of efforts to strengthen community engagement through collaboration and global networks.

During the event, the Head of the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) of UIN Sunan Kalijaga explained that the Community Service Program serves as a learning platform that connects students’ academic competencies with the actual needs of society. Meanwhile, the Rector of UIN Sunan Kalijaga emphasized that the success of the program should not be measured solely by the number of work programs implemented, but also by their positive impacts and the sustainability of the benefits experienced by the community.

After attending the university-level send-off ceremony, Himawan Putranta, M.Pd., also participated in the welcoming ceremony for students assigned outside the Special Region of Yogyakarta in Kejajar District, Wonosobo Regency. The event marked the beginning of student supervision at the community service location and strengthened the synergy between UIN Sunan Kalijaga, the local government, and the community in implementing sustainable empowerment programs.

During the implementation of the Community Service Program in Kejajar District, Himawan Putranta, M.Pd., supervised one of the students from the 2023 cohort of the Physics Education Study Program, Septi Tri Wulandari, who joined students from various study programs in a community service group assigned to the area. The participation of Physics Education students is expected to contribute to the application of scientific knowledge, the development of scientific literacy, and the implementation of innovative and sustainable community empowerment programs that address local needs.

For the 120th Community Service Program, the Physics Education Study Program assigned four lecturers as Field Supervisors: Dr. Ika Kartika, M.Pd.Si., Himawan Putranta, M.Pd., Nira Nurwulandari, M.Pd., and Nur Arviyanto, M.Pd. Their participation reflects the Physics Education Study Program’s commitment to supporting the implementation of the Three Pillars of Higher Education, particularly community service, through the supervision and guidance of students throughout the program.

Through optimal supervision from the Field Supervisors, students are expected to apply their knowledge, develop innovations that address community needs, and establish collaborations that positively contribute to regional development. The Physics Education Study Program expects the 120th Community Service Program not only to serve as a learning opportunity for students but also to make a tangible contribution to improving the quality of life of communities in the designated service locations.
